The Needle Art Guild Kicks Off its 52nd Year

Needle Guild PicDULUTH, Minn. — The Needle Art Guild held their first meeting of the year September 22nd, continuing a 52-year tradition.

The Guilds’ goal is to foster and contribute to art and crafts in the community.

They focus on needle arts, including embroidery, needlepoint, and more.

Each meeting has stitching time, a break for lunch, and a guest speaker.

Today’s guest speaker talked about using invasive species as a dye.

“I just think it’s a wonderful opportunity to for people who don’t even know about needle arts, and what that you know involves to come and learn. Beginners are always welcome and experienced people then can help out with others who don’t know the craft as well as anyone would like to” said Cindy French, President of the Needle Art Guild.

Some of the upcoming guest speaker topics include Panema’s Molas, Needle turn Appliques, Ojibwe Beading, and more.

The Needle guild dues are $35, which helps cover the costs of bringing in speakers and such.

They meet the 4th Monday of each month except December at the Kenwood Lutheran Church.
