UW-Superior’s “Young Americans for Freedom” Hosts Kirk Vigil

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Members of the UW-Superior student body and surrounding community came together to mourn the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The event was hosted by the college’s “Young Americans for Freedom” student organization and despite being held on the college’s campus the night of prayer was meant to heal not just students, but anyone in the Twin Ports in mourning involving the shooting death of kirk.

“There’s definitely a draw for students, especially since everything with Charlie Kirk happened on a college campus, I think that resonates a lot with students,” said UW-Superior’s YAF Chapter President Gianna Hopke.

“But I think this is something that the whole community really wanted, and there was nothing really like this, no sort of vigil or anything going on, really in the superior Duluth Twin Ports area, so I think everyone wanted a way to kind of recognize what happened and kind of have some public closure.”

The evening finished with a rendition of “Amazing Grace”, which everyone in attendance sang to one another.
