ST. PAUL, Min. & PROCTOR, Min. – After more than 30 years in the Minnesota National Guard, Army Col. Scott Rohweder has retired from uniformed service.
But he will be continuing his service as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs (DMA).
Rohweder served as the Chief of Staff of the Minnesota National Guard, where he provided strategic guidance and daily oversight for all major Guard operations across the state.
As the most senior civilian member of DMA, Rohweder oversees daily operations, legislative coordination, and long-range planning.
“My compass has always pointed toward the people- those in uniform, their families, and the communities behind them.” Rohweder said. “I have been honored to continue serving in this new role.”
Rohweder also helped the Minnesota National Guard rank in the top five nationally within all readiness and recruiting metrics. He coordinated with state and federal partners on cybersecurity improvements, overseas deployments, and supported training and modernization initiatives with partner nations Croatia and Norway.
Graduating from Proctor High School in 1990, Rohweder earned his commission from North Dakota State University.

This is the 52nd year the two nations have participated in the NOREX and is one of the longest running state partnership programs in the world.
