St Louis County Declaring October 9th as “Ageism Awareness Day”

DULUTH, Minn.–A proclamation involving the importance of a positive mindset with the aging population was highlighted in Duluth today.

The St. Louis County will be recognizing October 9th as ‘Ageism Awareness Day’.

City officials and the community alike is recognizing what they’re calling an ‘unnoticed societal issue’.

That being said, this issue affects both older and younger people, giving each group their own set of challenges.

And now, work is being done to reverse this.

“I truly hope it does make people think about it. Because, I mean, like I said, it’s, it’s both ways. You know, you’re not too young for something, you’re not too old for something, you’re perfect. If it’s what you want to keep doing, just do it,” said Cheryl Elj, Public Health Coordinator, St. Louis County.

despite work being done, there has already been progress in helping this issue.
