Whole Foods Co-op Celebrating 55 Year Anniversary
DULUTH, Minn. — The Whole Foods Co-op’s 55th anniversary kicking off with an official mayoral proclamation at Ursa Minor.
The Co-op, founded in 1970, began as a small buying club and has since grown into what we now know as two community-owned grocery stores. Between the two stores, there are 140 dedicated employees from within the community helping to keep access to fresh, local, and sustainable foods alive and well across Duluth.
“We partner with local vendors, local farmers, food producers, entrepreneurs, bakers, and they bring great food to our shelves that we’re then able to offer to the community,” said Sarah Hannigan, general manager of Whole Foods Co-op.
The Co-op also highlights their round-up program that is nearing $1 million for area nonprofits, food access programs, and local farmers and producers.
