The City of Duluth Hosts Investment Tour of Lot D
DULUTH, Minn. — The City of Duluth hosted a House Capital Investment Bonding Tour on Tuesday about the future rehabilitation of Lot D down by Canal Park.
The tour aimed to showcase the economic development opportunity that Lot D could bring to the Bayfront area. In order for the lot to become a fully functioning part of Duluth, it will need seawall repairs, demolition of existing infrastructure, utilities, and site preparations, which is going to require funding.
“We need to redevelop this land and do some environmental remediation,” said John Dukich, senior advisor for policy government affairs. “We’re asking for $10.85 million in capital investment from the state that, in turn, will leverage about $250 million in private economic development.”
The tour allows people to see the opportunity up close and in person to really drive home the vision the city has for the Lot.
“I think that’s it’s going to really enhance the economic vibrancy of this area,” said Dukich.
Lot D development funds are in the City of Duluth’s 2025 legislative priorities and will more than likely be a talking point in the upcoming political season.
