HERMANTOWN, Minn — Minnesota State Senator Grant Hauschild announced Wednesday that he will not run for the 8th Congressional District.

Hauschild currently represents Minnesota’s 3rd Congressional District.

After months of encouragement from people around him to run for the seat, Hauschaild says he wants to keep his focus on serving his senate district and his family.

“I’ve been grateful for the encouragement to consider a run for Congress in Minnesota’s 8th District. After giving it careful thought, I’ve decided now is not the right time,” said Senator Hauschild“My focus is on making sure Northern Minnesota has a voice in the Senate Majority and spending as much time as I can with my young family. We’ve accomplished a lot for northern Minnesota, and there’s still important work ahead to keep delivering for our region.”

The 8th Congressional District is currently represented by State Congressman Pete Stauber.
