Superior holds public meetings regarding changes to one-way roads
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Two public meetings were held in Superior on Wednesday to discuss the potential changes to multiple one-way roads.
The meeting focused on addressing safety concerns in the midtown neighborhood, particularly on Banks, Ogden, and John Aves.
The proposed solution is to convert the one-way streets to two-way streets, which are considered safer. Two-streets can increase driver awareness and naturally reduce traffic.
Many residents in the area are concerned that two-way streets will attract more vehicles and ask for increased signage at the very least.
“Really, I want to hear them talk about their neighborhoods, what they think the problems are, and what they think the solutions would be. We’re going to bring data into it as well. We have to make decisions that are informed by what’s happening in real life examples, but we also have to take into account that they should be in charge of the place that they live,” Superior Mayor Jim Paine said.
Temporary projects may be implemented to test solutions on these roads.
The ultimate goal is to enhance neighborhood safety, so residents can safely enjoy their community.
