DULUTH, Minn. — A celebration of life is being held for a local community activist whose impact stretches across the state.

Elder Archie Davis passed away back in May.

He was known for his activism, advocacy, and helping others learn to take action.

Local community members are holding a public celebration remembering the impact he made and the legacy he left behind.

“Archie was not quiet. He was very active in City Hall on a variety of different committees, the African American commission. He was a part of the citizens review board, and in those capacities, he was, as I say, very active, and got a lot of work done on behalf of all the people in this community.” said Henry Banks, Community Member.

“Any kind of civic needs in our community, you name it, housing, transportation, food security, Archie Always put his concerns into action and gathered people together to form teams to do something about it. And so, the I think the celebration itself reflects all the different peoples whose lives he was involved in and cared for.” said Kathy Bogan, Community Member.

He coached 2nd through 5th graders at Myers Wilkins for years, and in honor of his memory a 3 on 3 tournament with the students is being held Oct. 10th from 4:30 to 7:30.

The Celebration of Life gathering is Saturday, Oct 11th, from 11 am to 2 pm. It will be at the Peace Church in Duluth.
