Second Half Goal by Hadley Friday Lifts Duluth East Girls Soccer to Second Straight Section Title

The Greyhounds will learn their state opponent over the weekend.

DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth East girls soccer team hosted Blaine in the Section 7AAA Title game on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first half, Hadley Friday found the back of the net on a corner kick to give the Greyhounds the lead.

Duluth East claims their second straight section title defeating the Bengals 1-0.

“It’s what you work for. I mean it’s really tough when you’re putting everything on the line for one game. But then to see it come to fruition and see the kids celebrate and sing their school song and just watching them with friends and family right now makes it all worth it,” said Duluth East head coach Steve Polkowski.

“We needed to get one in the back of the net, that’s really all I was thinking, just get the ball in the back of the net, put our team up we needed to be in a good spot,” said Duluth East middle Hadley Friday. “I just got a little touch off of it. So, I was pretty hype, and I just found my sister and gave her the biggest hug.”
