‘Twin Ports Trailer Trash’ Hosts Free Mattress Drop-Off Event Oct. 22

A winter clothing drive is also part of the event

DULUTH, Minn. — Twin Ports Trailer Trash is hosting a free mattress drop-off event Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Duluth while also hosting a winter clothing drive.

The drop-off location for both causes is 215 S. 37th Avenue West from 8 .m. until 4 p.m.  There is a limit of two mattresses or box springs.

“I’m constantly trying to just figure out ways to give back to the community. And one thing that we’ve noticed is the cost to get rid of mattresses is not affordable for some people, and a lot of times they end up in the city streets and alleys and ditches, and we don’t want that,” said Bernard McCarthy, president of Twin Ports Trailer Trash.

McCarthy is partnering up with Farmers Insurance for the clothing drive, which will host a drop-off event at 738 E. Superior Street in Duluth from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.

“Oh my gosh, the giving in our community is phenomenal. One year, we gave 20 six seven, huge, hefty bags directly to the schools, and the schools are thrilled, because they see the need,” said Bonnie Jacobson, agency owner of Farmers Insurance.

Donations accepted: new or gently used coats, gloves, hats, and mittens for local kids and families in need.
