BUYCK, Minn. — The Buyck Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the groundbreaking of a new fire hall.

Senator Grand Hauschild was at the ceremony on Tuesday, along with local leaders.

$950,000 in funding from the state’s 2024 omnibus tax bill made the new fire hall a reality after years of dreaming for one.

The funds supported design, engineering, and now construction.

The new fire hall will also be a training facility for firefighters.

The Buyck volunteer fire department responds to emergencies across Portage Township and surrounding areas in Northern St. Louis County.

The fire department is also a critical resource to the region’s snowmobile and ATV communities due to the hundreds of miles of trails in its service area.
