YMCA holds ‘DiffeRUNce’ 5k fundraiser
DULUTH, Minn. — People across the Twin Ports took on the Differunce 5K in their Halloween costumes to fundraise for the increased food access and healthy living programs through the YMCA.
The YMCA Community Services teamed up with Ursa Minor Brewing to host the run, providing an opportunity for the community to come together for a good cause and enjoy some great exercise, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the YMCA Community Services Program.
The race began in front of Ursa Minor Brewery, and continued down the Michigan St. bike path, crossing the pedestrian bridge, and then circling back.
“These dollars will help us feed children,” said Melissa Fanning, branch executive director for the YMCA Community Services Program, “We also do a meal kit service, where we hand out community bags every Thursday at our Hermantown branch, starting at 4 p.m., and we give out to families, seniors, and anyone who is in need. We give them meals, up to eight meals for a week.”
After the race, runners stuck around to celebrate the race and win some fun prizes.
