Trunk or Treaters Take on the Twin Ports
TWIN PORTS — Trunk or treaters didn’t have to search far to find a trunk or treating event on the evening of Oct. 29.
From the Coppertop Church in Duluth to the Richard I. Bong Center in Superior, local businesses, families, and other community members came together to celebrate Halloween early with plenty of sweets and smiles.
“It’s really important to us to be involved in our community and also to give back to our members too. So for our members in the community to be able to come and bring their kids to something like this, something like this. It’s safe, it’s an easy way to do trick or treating, and it’s fun and easy for everybody,” said Bre Wessberg, VP of Marketing and Community Engagement, Superior Choice Credit Union.
Among those handing out sweets and treats were members of the Twin Ports Rampage Softball team stationed at the Bong Center, giving back to the community that has continuously supported their team.
“We really like representing our community in fun ways like this. We’ve done it for the past three years, and everyone always really enjoys it, and they love coming and showing up,” said John Gidley, Executive Director, Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center. “It gives us a chance to connect with the community. A lot of times, people not sure what we do here. You know, we are a museum that honors veterans, and this kind of establishes the veteran connection with the youth of the region and the veterans of the region.”
Although the night was filled with candy and costumes, the excitement isn’t ending just yet, as the Twin Ports gears up for a full weekend of Halloween festivities.
