Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 11/7/2025

A Cold and Windy Weekend

This week has been a shock to the system. First, the sunset today was at 4:44pm, which just seems ridiculous. By 5:00, it seems like Midnight. So, that has been a rough transition to make (into Central Standard Time). Plus, the high and low temps have really plummeted this week, while the strong northwest winds have really kicked up! I wasn’t prepared to start reporting the ‘wind chill’ again already. But, we can’t really be surprised, as we head into the second full week of November. It’s just a tough change to make, when you’re still trying to hold onto summer!

So, the average high temp is in the mid 40’s. Yes, time for the heavy jackets. And, the low tomorrow night is down to 18 degrees! Yikes! Not only will it be cold enough to snow Saturday night, but the South Shore is looking to get 4″-8″ of snow by Sunday morning. Ironwood, Michigan might get 10″ of snow this weekend. Of course, winter always starts early there. They LOVE the snow (at least that’s what they say). The rest of the Northland might see flurries this weekend, but nothing that’s going to stick around for long. It’s going to be too windy for any snow to take up residence yet, anyway. We are looking at NW winds from 20-35mph for most of the next week. High temps will be in the 30s from Saturday thru Monday, then we will have highs near 40 degrees, Tuesday thru Thursday.

Since we are just short of 10″ below where we should be for precipitation for the year, I’d love to see us get some moisture. I don’t even care if it’s rain or snow. We just need the water. I don’t know about getting 10″ of snow in one weekend, like Ironwood, but it would sure brighten things up, wouldn’t it!

Have a great weekend, and enjoy this relative warmth while we have it. I hear it’s going to be a cold and snowy winter!
