#3 UMD Men’s Hockey to Continue Homestand with Bout Against Omaha
The Bulldogs have dropped their last five contests against the Mavericks.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team just keeps on winning. For the 4th time in program history, the Bulldogs began their season with a 10-2 record.
They’ll look to add a few more to win column this weekend when they welcome in Omaha.
The Bulldogs have dropped their last five contests against the Mavericks.
Head Coach Scott Sandelin says it’s a different Omaha squad they’re facing this time around, adding they’ll be ready to come into Amsoil and compete.
“I’m sure they’re not happy about last weekend and we can’t live off last weekend. We’ve got to get better and get ready to play. Again, I think it’s going to be a real hard series. They’ve always been a team that plays hard, plays heavy, plays fast. Like I said, some of their guys I’m seeing for the first time on tape and they’ve got some talent,” said Sandelin.
UMD is once again set to rely on the Plante brothers, Max and Zam, who are the first-ever pair of brothers to lead the NCAA in scoring.
“It’s fun. I just think it shows our team’s success, like we’re winning games. I mean it’s still November. We have a long way to go,” said Zam.
“Pretty cool. Not many people get to play with their brother, let alone play on a line with their brother and have success with their brother. I mean, yeah it’s pretty special for our family,” added Max.
Just this past weekend, Max became the 3rd-ever fastest Bulldog to reach 50 career points.
He and the rest of the Bulldogs will hit the ice at 7:07 on Friday.
