MN Craft Brewer’s Gild Responds to Federal Hemp-Derived THC Ban

DULUTH, Minn. — The Minnesota Craft Brewer’s Guild released a statement to FOX 21 Wednesday night about the federal ban on hemp-derived THC products that was passed Wednesday when congress voted to approve the federal spending bill to open the government after a historic shutdown.

“In the chaos of the last nearly 43 days, let’s not lose sight of the important things. The folks that keep us safe and operating as an American public will finally be fairly compensated and/or back to work. There is nothing but celebration to be had about that fact. How we got here can (and will) be debated by different sides and opinions for decades to come. In our industry, there will be much discussion as to how this played out. But make no mistake, the main discussions happening in our industry is how things WILL play out. Tomorrow only exists after today and today we celebrate.

We’re incredibly grateful for the steadfast workers of the Government, whose work went unrealized until this shut down, for now stepping back up and allowing us the time to focus on how to craft responsible regulation around hemp products. I hope those returning to work head to their local watering hole after their first shift back. No one has earned a beer, wine, cocktail, hemp beverage or Non Alcoholic beverage more than they have. Thank you for dealing with the chaos and we all raise a glass. Just like them, we’ll get to work tomorrow.

Cheers, Prost, Slainte”

Meanwhile, Bent Paddle Brewing Company in Duluth talked to FOX 21 before the vote happened Wednesday to explain just how important the hemp industry is to its bottom line. Click here for that part of the story.
