Red Cross Day Returns to UWS

Red Cross PicSUPERIOR, Wis. — UWS Students learned a lifesaving skill and at Red Cross Day.

Students learned hands-only CPR training and had the opportunity to practice on CPR dummies.

There were also cards that students could write for service members in the military and veterans.

The ‘Refugee for 90 Minutes’ exhibit let students learn about life as a refugee and international humanitarian law.

“What I’d like people to take away from today is that preparedness, resiliency, taking care of those in your community doesn’t start with an organization out on the news. It starts inside homes. It starts with individuals, and everybody has a part to play in that,” said Owen Fifield, community disaster program manager.

UWS hosts Red Cross Day each semester to bring these skills and opportunities to students.

The next UWS Red Cross Day is April 9.
