Life House Celebrates new Expansion
DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Duluth’s Life House’s new expansion.
The event taking place at Life House highlights the new mental health and wellness center, a space dedicated to providing mental health support for area youth and young adults. The program offers free mental health and substance use care, therapy sessions, parenting classes, and crisis intervention.
“Our team works very closely with our housing program and our community partners and our youth center,” said Amber Sadowski, Executive Director, Life House. “Almost 80% of our youth have experienced homelessness at one point or another. Homelessness itself is traumatic, and then you throw in other types of abuse or trauma that they may have experienced, and so the needs are really high.”
The new wellness center allows the organization to expand its outreach, enhance the quality of services that are provided, and promote stability in those it serves.
Sadowski adds, “this space has already really allowed staff to collaborate across programs, the youth center, and wellness, so I’m just really looking forward to getting more youth feedback and looking at ways that we can utilize the space for the youth.”
Life House has worked in Duluth with local youth experiencing housing insecurity and other challenges for over 30 years.
