Superior kicks off Small Business Saturday with annual Holiday tree lighting
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The community gathered at Center City Park in Superior’s downtown business district for the annual Holiday tree lighting, which also marked the official kickoff to Small Business Saturday.
Before the countdown began, families and community members filled the park, sipping on hot cocoa, enjoying cookies, and listening to cheerful holiday music as Santa and his helpers greeted visitors.
“Sometimes the things what matters the most are what was here tonight. It’s time with our family, time with our friends and time with members of our community coming out and sharing the joy of the of the holiday season,” said Superior Business Improvement District Director, Kelly Peterson.
For many, taking part in the tree lighting also means supporting local shops and giving back during Small Business Saturday.
“They do this stuff for us. And you know, community comes out. See a lot of people, it’s really good,” said attendee Chris Gagner. “Community pride, city Pride. You know, seeing these things and people getting together all walks of life is amazing.”
Residents are encouraged to shop local and support the businesses that keep the community strong during Shop Small Superior Week, which runs through Dec. 6.
