DEDA approves future development of Lester Golf Course
DULUTH, Minn.–The Duluth Economic Development Authority held a meeting, and future plans were approved for the Lester Golf Course property.
Over the course of 9 months, a land study will take place on the 250-acre property, allowing community members to voice opinions.
Councilor Arik Forsman told FOX 21, it’s future will range from potential housing, conservation opportunities, as well as economic development.
“People have heard these ideas bubble up. They’ve heard of different groups and task forces and committees that have popped up over the years, but it has never been under this comprehensive umbrella where we are all agreeing whatever comes from this process is the answer, and we’re going to move forward based on that,” said Councilor Arik Forsman. “To have a property like this, the worst outcome, in my opinion, is to just let it sit and deteriorate.”
Councilor Forsman said this project will not be funded by taxpayer dollars.
