Cougar sightings reported from Duluth to Two Harbors

DULUTH, Minn. – Cougar sightings between Two Harbors and Duluth have created quite the excitement.

A cougar sighting in Duluth on Wednesday put two schools into a “secure status” as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Duluth Schools said the cougar was spotted about a half-mile from Ordean East Middle School, which is also near Congdon Park Elementary.

Both schools lifted the secured status about 40 minutes after the sighting.

On Nov. 28, Bre Bujold captured footage of the cougar off McQuade Road, just outside of Duluth.

She said the DNR believes the cougar is from Nebraska and has been spotted in the area over the past two weeks.

On Nov. 22 another cougar sighting happened in the Larsmont area, just south of Two Harbors.

There are no reports of any attacks on humans.

Bujold said the DRN told her that the tracking collar on the cougar is not currently working.
