Duluth Armory Restoration project receives anonymous $5 million donation

Duluth Armory

DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Armory Arts and Music Center announced Thursday a donation of  $5 million from an anonymous donor.

Officials say the money will be used for matching donations for the building’s restoration project moving forward.

The restoration is a $48 million project to create a lasting center for arts and entertainment while celebrating the building’s history.

With good progress on fundraising, we’ve been able to move quickly into physical work inside and outside of the Armory,” noted Michelle Miller, Co-Executive Director of the AAMC Board. “As the public begins to see actual changes to the building, we are very confident that the excitement about a restored Armory will help us reach our financial goals.”

Crews have recently made key advancements on the renovation of the 110-year-old facility, including exterior brick cleaning and restoration, and extensive roof work.

Initial construction on the project started in 2025.
