Friday Morning Northland Forecast: 12/5/2025

A Lot Warmer Than Yesterday!

Yesterday at this time, the temp was -12, and the wind chill was -25. It was brutal to be outside. The wind seemed to pull the air right out of your lungs. It was mid-January cold, in the first few days of December. Impressive and intimidating. Today, it is 15 degrees ABOVE zero, with very light winds. It feels 1,000 times better! Today’s high will be 23 degrees, which is still short of the average high of 28, but a lot more reasonable than yesterday’s chill. Unfortunately, today’s heatwave will only last one day. For the weekend, our highs will only be 12 and 10. Our lows will be -5 and -6. So, we’re right back into that January stuff. But, then we warm back up next week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we’ll shoot for highs of 16, 22 and 17, which is still below average, but we’ve gotten used to that. At least we’ll be a ways above zero. We will also have chances for light snow next Monday and Tuesday, and we’ll always take that.

The days continue to get shorter. Today’s sunset remains the same, but the sunrise is 1 minute later than yesterday. As you know, the days will keep getting shorter until December 21st, which is the Winter Solstice, and the shortest day of the year. Then, finally, the days will slowly start getting longer. I like that!

Still no big snowstorms in the extended forecast. But, I’m watching….and hoping! Have a great Friday!
