East Third Street Duplex Fire Investigation Points to Arson

DULUTH, Minn.-The Duluth Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at a duplex at 219 East Third Street on Wednesday, January 11.
Heavy smoke was seen from the back of the first floor duplex at 1 a.m. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the first floor.
One resident was inside the duplex at the time of the fire and was evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. No residents are allowed to remain in the residence at this time.

Initial damages are estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire has been determined by the Duluth Fire Department to be arson through initial investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MN Arson Tipline at 1-800-723-2020. There is a reward of up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the identification of persons responsible for the fire. The reward is offered by the MN Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
