Duluth Area YMCA to integrate Superior location

DULUTH, Minn.– For over 150 years, the YMCA has graced its presence in Duluth, and 72 years in Superior.

Going forward exciting changes have been announced.

The Duluth location has now acquired the Superior YMCA location.

The employees over in Wisconsin will temporarily be laid off but are expected to immediately be re-hired under the new Duluth ownership of the two.

YMCA leadership said, locations will continue to operate and receive some updates but under a new name.

“Folks can expect the same really amazing service and programming that they’ve been used to for all these years. So, day to day, our members are not going to notice a big change. We’re excited to team together because that’s more impact we can have in the community,” said Sara Cole, CEO of Duluth YMCA.

In early January there will be a ribbon cutting to show off the newest updates of the Superior location as well as a new name reveal for the new partnership.
