Wildcat Sanctuary rescues severely injured stray dog

SANDSTONE, Minn.– The Wildcat Sanctuary, a rescue in Sandstone known for helping cats of all shapes and sizes has stepped in to rescue a different kind of furry friend.

Staff at the Wildcat Sanctuary out in Sandstone had quite the startling discovery earlier this week.

Teagan, a Norwegian elkhound dog was shot several times and left for dead.

Luckily, a concerned neighbor brought him to their doorstep.

Wildcat Sanctuary staff said the vet came in on his day off to help the team perform lifesaving surgery.

At this time, he is still receiving medical care but has been recovering well.

“We are so grateful, and it’s our family of supporters who donate for our mission, which is to provide a natural sanctuary to Wildcats. But their hearts go a lot broader than just cats, and we’ve seen an outpour of support to help with his veterinary bills,” said Tammy Thies, Executive Director of the Wildcat Sanctuary.

As far as future plans goes for Teagan, staff told FOX 21 that he’s expected to make a full recovery.

And that once he’s healed, they will help him find a forever home.
