Northern Star: AJ Reyelts
Last skated for Rails in the 2023-24 season.
DULUTH, Minn.- Former Proctor Rails goaltender AJ Reyelts has suited up for several junior ice hockey teams since his time with the Rails.
But this past week, Reyelts has donned the red, white, and blue for the U.S National Junior Preliminary team.
Participating in their training sessions right here at Amsoil Arena for a final roster spot.
“Obviously first time putting on the USA logo it’s an honor. I am super honored and just happy I was selected to be here,” said Reyelts. “It’s great to be back in my home city. Nothing better than being around your friends and family.”
Being a part of the training camp here is Duluth with the top junior hockey athletes in the USA has helped the former Rails goalkeeper grow as a player.
“You know we are all competing with each other and that’s only going to make each one of us better,” said Reyelts. “We got to be good teammates and be there for each other but also push each other every day in practice. So, that’s the ultimate goal, if you are out there pushing the guy in front of you and making him a better goalie then you are contributing to the team.”
Unfortunately, the young goalie did not make the final roster for the US Junior Team.
But the chance to play with top prospects in the country will help the future Bulldog in his career.
” I think that the work is starting to show and I am just happy that I was given this opportunity, and I am very grateful for it,” said Reyelts. “Just taking it day by day, just focusing on what you can do today to get yourself prepared for whenever the next time you go out there for a game is.”
