DULUTH, Minn.– With Christmas less than a day away, local bakeries are feeling the holiday rush. Duluth’s Best Bread staff said customers have been lining up for festive treats, and some favorites are already sold out.

Decked out in holiday spirit, the demand for a sweet treat has been nonstop.

All season long, Duluth’s Best Bread has been dishing out eggnog danishes, and challah bread for Hannukah.

That being said, no matter what customers near and far are searching for, co-owner Robert Lillegard said, the atmosphere has been infectious.

“it’s really busy. It’s Christmas time, and a lot of people come to get food for celebrations or just a little treat. In the hectic hustle and bustle, we’ve sold some cardamom bread, and that’s sold out really quick,” said Lillegard.

Lillegard said he’s honored his baked goods have entered many homes during the holidays.

That being said, he’s always up for a challenge.

“We always tease that we’ll challenge anyone’s grandma to a baking competition. I think our stuff is really good. That doesn’t mean grandmas isn’t, but it is fun that we can, like, provide a really high-end food for people, and it tastes super good, and it takes people stress out of people’s day,” said Lillegard.

Duluth’s Best Bread will be closing their doors on Christmas day and December 26th as well.

So that their overnight bakers can also enjoy some time off.
