Duluth Library and Duluth Children’s Museum host New Year’s celebrations for kids
DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Public Library held its annual New Year’s celebration called “Noon Year’s.”
Families and kids of all ages were welcome to attend the library’s annual Noon Year event.
There was all kinds of fun, from a dance party with bubbles, to creating your own noise makers.
Many families make the event an annual tradition as a way to ring in the new year.
The celebration also serves as a way to get the community involved with the library.
“We’re always hoping that big programs like this will help introduce people to the library and make them realize that the library is not just a quiet place for books, but it’s a place with all different kinds of fun activities that sneak a little learning in there,” Carmella Hatch, Duluth Public Library, Early Literacy Coordinator said.
While the year is coming to an end, the library has kicked off its winter reading program, where people can track what they’re reading, the program runs through the end of February.
Across town, the Duluth Children’s Museum held its 10th annual New Year’s celebration, for the little ones who may not stay up until midnight.
Kids could partake in various fun activities, from making noise makers, and setting resolutions, as well as exploring everything the museum has to offer, from an indoor playground, to games and learning areas.
The museum held two sessions on Wednesday, both leading up to a New Year’s countdown, filled with streamers and cheers.
“We love the fact that we’re able to do a daytime celebration for families, so those kiddos can go to bed at their normal time, and then parents can also celebrate tonight as well,” Drew Jensen, Duluth Children’s Museum Executive Director said.
The Children’s Museum will be holding workshops during school break, you can view events online.
