Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 1/2/2026
First Weekend of 2026
It’s the first weekend of 2026. We ended 2025 about 10.5″ short of average precipitation for the year. And, we are starting 2026 the same way. Personally, I love big snowstorms. Bring on some big, wet storm from the Oklahoma panhandle, with lots of available moisture from the Gulf, and we’ll end up with 2 feet of snow in the Twin Ports! Sure, it’ll paralyze the city for a day and a half, but we need the moisture. And, if you don’t like big snowfalls, you shouldn’t live here! I like it, when weather is a challenge. And, the power of the weather is fascinating to me!
That being said, I don’t see any storms like that, on the way. We might get a few flurries on Saturday morning. And, Sunday into Monday, we may get 1-2″ of snow in the area. That’s fine. It will freshen things up, a bit. Then, we start a significant warm-up, with high temps into the 30s next week. And, actually, there is a chance for some decent snow, late next week. Models are showing what could be some nice snowfalls, next Thursday night into Friday, and again on Saturday. I would love to see that happen!
So, enjoy this first weekend of 2026, and if it does snow, go play in it! That IS why we live here!
