Hoyt Lakes man accused of repeatedly raping a 14-year-old
HOYT LAKES, Min. – Robert Allan Hannu, 61, Hoyt Lakes is accused of having sex with a girl between the ages of 14 and 15.
The charging documents say the girl met Hannu on-line. They met in 2019. The incidents mentioned in the indictment all happened in 2019 and 2020.
Police first received the report of these encounters in July of 2024. After their investigation, they executed a search warrant on Hannu’s home in December 2025. Hannu was arrested in January 2026 and made his first appearance in court on January 7, 2026. He is slated to be back in court on January 12.
The victim said she told Hannu with-in a week of the them talking on-line that she was 14-years-old.
The victim says she told Hannu about her depression and anxiety. Hannu allegedly told the victim that he could make her feel better. The victim said they first meet near the victim’s cabin in a truck. They then allegedly meet at least five more times for sexual encounters.
The last time they met Hammu allegedly gave her weight loss pills and told her according to the probable cause statement, “to be a good sex slave, she should lose some weight”.
The probable cause statement ends with claims that police discovered evidence on Hannu’s cellphone of messages to and from other people claiming to be teenage girls.
The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office asked for a $200,000 bail for Hannu because, “as recently as 2024 [Hannu was] seeking sexual relations with people alleging to be teenage girls.”
They also said Hannu is a flight risk because of his career as a trucker. He is used to “travelling all over the United States, and sometimes stay out of the state for extended periods of time.”
Hannu is facing six felony charges that bring up to 85-years in prison January 12, 2026.
