Proctor issues water boil advisory following water main break

Boil Water Advisory (AP Generic)

PROCTOR, Minn. — Proctor has issued a boil water advisory following a water main break.

The advisory is in place after officials say a water main broke in Duluth, where valves supplying Proctor were temporarily closed to help with repairs.

Officials with the City of Duluth said the break happened near the 700 block of N Boundary Ave.

Water service has since been restored, and residents are now asked to boil tap water as a precaution until the advisory is lifted.

The affected area includes the entire Proctor water system, including Midway Township, excluding customers north of 10th Street.

Both Proctor highschool and Middle School were closed on Monday out of an abundance of caution.

Officials are also asking people to limit non-essential water use while the water is being tested.

Water boiled for at least 1 minute or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and making food.

The city says it is working with the Minnesota Department of Health to test the water and expects results tomorrow.
