#9 UMD Women’s Hockey Set for 2nd Showdown with #2 Ohio State
Ohio State previously swept UMD in a series back in November.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s hockey team bounced back nicely this past weekend by picking up a shootout win plus a shutout victory over Minnesota State-Mankato.
Just the kind of momentum they need before heading into a big series.
The Bulldogs will head to Columbus this upcoming Friday to take on the 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
It’s the 2nd time this season that the two teams have met up. Ohio State went on to sweep UMD back in November, as they outscored the Bulldogs 7 to 2.
With both teams set to have players out of the lineup due to the Olympics, head coach Laura Schuler says the tactics will still remain the same.
“We’ll still attack the same way that we have always attacked against them. Like same sort of system that we’re going to be using against them. Yeah, not much I think will change there. I think they’re probably going to play the same type of game,” said Schuler.
“They’re a super aggressive team. I know I was rattled a few times. So, I just think like staying composed, not getting on PK’s too much. I think that will help us,” added forward Rae Mayer.
UMD will look to capture their first win in Columbus since September of 2024.
