Protestors outside Stauber meeting with Teamsters
DULUTH, Minn. — A protest was held outside the Teamsters Local 3-46 union hall in Lincoln Park, where Congressman Stauber was believed to be attending a private gathering.
People outside said they showed up looking to share their concerns with proposed legislation easing federal restrictions on mining near the Boundary Waters, and the current unrest in Minneapolis involving ICE operations there.
“You have to show up and let your representative know that you’re not feeling represented,” said Emily, a Duluth resident. “That’s what everyone is doing here tonight. There are so many things that we want to talk about with Pete, and we never get the opportunity, so we have to show up here and hold signs and yell chance in hopes of gaining some sort of recognition.”
FOX 21 has reached out to Congressman Stauber’s office for comment on tonight’s protest and if he would like to speak on the ICE operations in Minnesota. We are waiting to hear back.
