DULUTH, Minn. – Cirrus Aircraft announced a new jet that will soon be flying.  The Generation 3 Vision Jet, or  “G3 Vision Jet” will have better seating, better technology and a new-look.

The G3 Vision has a new reimagined cabin that can seat a total of seven occupants (six adults, one child).  It’s one more adult seat than previous versions.

Matt Bergwell the Executive Director of the Vision Jet Product Line told FOX 21 the plane is the same size but just reworked, “Essentially the same shell, same everything like that doesn’t change. It was just kind of how we kind of went about, just how the seats are formed, how they’re shaped. And honestly, our engineers are pretty clever.”

The plane will have the ATC Datalink. It’s a communication technology used by airlines – especially when flying over oceans.  Bergwell says it’s now coming to the personal jet, “In the past, you just have to be talking to [air traffic control] . You got to read or repeat everything. You’ve got to make sure you wrote everything down correctly. But now it’s all done digitally. And then when you’re in the air talking to all the centers, especially in the United States, you can get all their instructions kind of pushed to you via text message versus voice…. It’s a great thing for the pilots.”

The outside look of the plane will have a different look.  There will be new wingtip and landing lights are nearly three times brighter.  Berg says its kind of like a new line of a car.  “In the automotive world, you can kind of recognize different brands of cars based upon their their halos. Their headlights. Kind of the same thing we kind of brought into the aviation world too…. at night when a Cirrus lands you look at those lights – and you like ‘that’s a Cirrus’.”

The first version of the G3 Vision Jet will be ready to fly in about one year.

More than 700 Vision Jets have been delivered worldwide.  The Vision Jet is recognized as the world’s first single-engine Personal Jet.
