HIBBING, Minn. — We’re learning more about how the man accidentally released from Itasca County Jail on January 21 was re-arrested.

The Minnesota State Patrol tells FOX 21 on February 6 at 1:37 a.m., a state trooper observed what they called “suspicious activity” near 13th Avenue E  and E 13th Street in Hibbing.

The trooper says they saw someone “hiding off the roadway and into the woods.”

They then saw a set of footprints leading away from the area.  The trooper searched the area and discovered Hart.

Troopers say Hart was arrested without incident.

Hart was accidentally released from the Itasca County Jail. and was the subject of a large manhunt when he walked away from the Northeast Regional Corrections Center (NERCC) approximately four months prior.

St. Louis County and Itasca County authorities had differences of opinion on how the mistake happened.
