Vitta Pizza celebrates National Pizza Day

DULUTH, Minn. — Slice by slice, people across the U.S. are celebrating National Pizza Day.

From thin crust to deep dish, the day is widely recognized, and the Northland is full of authentic pizza businesses like Vitta Pizza in Duluth. The wood-fired pizza place started in Canal Park in 2011 and most recently expanded to a second location on Central Entrance.

“It’s a staple food almost over the entire world, I would say, where everybody’s had a slice of pizza, and everybody seems to love it,” said Dakotah Canty, Manager at Vitta Pizza.

Vitta Pizza is owned by Brad and Christie Erickson. The Duluth natives got the idea to open Vitta after falling in love with Neapolitan Pizza during a family trip to Arizona.
