Tough Schedule Preparing Duluth East Boys Hoops for Section Tournament
Duluth East will next face Duluth Denfeld on Thursday.
DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth East boys basketball team is in the midst of a six-game road trip.
So far this year, it hasn’t been the results that the Greyhounds have been hoping for as they are currently 6-14 this season.
East isn’t discouraged though because of the 14 defeats, six have been decided by ten points or less.
Head Coach Rhett McDonald says he tells this to his team every February, good team’s in March have good February’s. He’s confident his team will turn things around to close out the regular season.
“We’ve had a large number of 4A teams come in here the last month or so. We’ve played a lot of 4A teams. We’ve been challenged. I think we’ve competed for the most part pretty well. We’ve been battling some sickness, some guys haven’t been on the team for a game or two. So we’ve battled through. I think we’re getting to a part of our season where we’re going to have our best product on the floor,” said McDonald.
Playing strong competition is nothing new for senior guard Ty Nyberg, who says it’s actually bringing the team together more on the floor.
“I think it builds us and connects us all together because we are all out there, fighting together. We have to go through tough competition every week, every day. So, we just have to prepare ourselves and I think it will help us a lot when we get ready for playoffs,” said Nyberg.
Nyberg and the rest of the Greyhounds will next be in action on Thursday against rivals, Duluth Denfeld.
