Skate for the Heart

DULUTH, Minn. — Families, love birds, and community members of all ages celebrating Valentine’s Day with a night of skating at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center.

As skaters made laps around the rink, songs about love played throughout the arena, creating an enjoyable atmosphere. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, skaters were treated to a special gift, a night of free skating.

“I think it’s pretty nice being here, to be able to have the opportunity to, like, come and skate nicely, like the outdoor rinks are often not able to be as smooth and as normal as it should be,” said attendee Kyle Plucinak.

As some took to the ice for leisure, others were sharpening their figure skating skills.

“I’m going to be a figure skater when I grow up. And probably also a dancer on ice,” said attendee Aurora Plucinak. “It’s fun skating.”

The event was sponsored by the City of Duluth, the Duluth Heritage Sports Center, the Boys and Girls Club of the Northland, the Duluth Children’s Museum, and The Exchange Deli & Bakery.
