UMD hosts annual All Majors Career Fair

Umd CareerDULUTH, Minn. — College students of all disciplines had the chance to see local employers today as UMD hosted its All-Majors Career fair.

The fair is designed to get students interacting with potential employers.

47 local and regional employers attended the event, talking about their opportunities.

It also serves as a way to find internships or entry jobs and just see what post-grad options are out there.

“I think it’s a really great opportunity for students to look at jobs in a more interdisciplinary way, and not necessarily think that ‘oh, because I’m X major, I have to do X type of work’. But I hope something like the ‘All Majors Career Fair’ really helps them see how a variety of majors can go into a variety of fields, and that there’s no one exact right track for any particular major,” said Molly Stonesifer, Career Development Specialist.

Students from UWS, St. Scholastica, and Fond Du Lac also attended the fair, creating connections that might not normally be made.

“I’ve made so many connections on LinkedIn just from like, chatting with people. And it’s always nice to reach out afterwards to just like, ‘Hey, glad I reached out to you.’ Sometimes they’ll like, give you, like, a little in with the application process. So, that’s always super cool,” said Madi Froslie, Junior.

Students who were unable to attend can still visit the Career Center to get help with career mapping and more.
