U2 releases new song honoring Renee Good
MINNESOTA – The Irish rock band, U2, which often writes songs about political and social issues, have released a new song in honor of Renee Good.
The song is called “American Obituary”.
It was part of a new EP called Days of Ash released on February 18, 2026.
In announcing the EP release lead singer Bono said, “The songs on Days of Ash are very different in mood and theme to the ones we’re going to put on our album later in the year. These EP tracks couldn’t wait; these songs were impatient to be out in the world. They are songs of defiance and dismay.”
Part of the lyrics of the song are:
Renee Good born to die free
American mother of three
Seventh day January
A bullet for each child, you see
The color of her eye
930 Minneapolis
To desecrate domestic bliss
Three bullets blast, three babies kissed
Renee the domestic terrorist???
What you can’t kill can’t die
America will rise
