Duluth police officer stabbed while attempting to arrest suspect
DULUTH, Minn. – A Duluth police officer was stabbed in the leg by a suspect they were trying to arrest early Saturday morning.
The incident started around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of 1st Avenue West and 1st Street.
Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man who was striking the side of a Mayo Ambulance while threatening paramedics, according to a news release.
The 22-year-old suspect was located a block away by an officer.
Officials said the suspect was actively resisting arrest and stabbed the officer in the leg.
The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The injury was not life-threatening.
The suspect was lodged in the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of first-degree assault, disorderly conduct, fleeing on foot, obstructing the legal process and public nuisance.
