Olympic medal winners Corey and Korey return to Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth-based Olympic medal-winning curling duo has returned.
On Monday, a crowd of cheering fans met Olympians Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse as they got off their flight at the Duluth International Airport
Family and friends brought noise makers and created signs of celebration.
“We’re just so happy to be home now and be able to sleep in our home beds finally, and, you know, be able to just be greeted and, you know, embrace everybody here has been wonderful,” said Dropkin
The pair won a silver medal at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in Mixed doubles curling.
They became the country’s first-ever Olympic medal in mixed-doubles curling, with Thiesse becoming the first American woman to ever medal in curling.
“To be able to represent our country and just to be able to do it in front of our friends and family, and just have so much fun out there and play the way that we played. We’re so proud of the week that we have, and just really excited to some hardware for the US. Let’s see it,” said Thiesse.
