Superior Middle School hosts 3rd Annual Youth Author Conference

SUPERIOR, Wis.– Inspired middle school writers had the opportunity to meet and network with numerous local authors.

For three years now, by popular demand, Superior Middle School has honored this tradition.

100 kids got the chance to hear from the keynote speaker, a fantasy novel author, as well as a playwright, journalist, and even a high school author.

The goal is to get kids inspired, and one of the organizers said, that has been accomplished.

In addition, getting the authors on board, was also easy to accomplish.

“There was a young authors conference in the past, and we wanted to kind of revive it, so we decided to reach out to the elementary librarians and say, ‘Hey, would you be interested in joining us for this?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’ So, we reached out to local authors,” said Amanda Lindquist, Instructional Coach at Superior Middle School.

The kids involved in the Youth Author Conference were selected based on their participation in a ‘battle of the books’ competition. to test their comprehension on numerous books.
