#9 UMD Women’s Hockey to Meet MSU-Mankato for 3rd Time in WCHA Playoffs
The Bulldogs currently have a 17-game unbeaten streak against the Mavericks.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s hockey team closed out the regular season in a big way, sweeping Minnesota for the first time since 2017.
Now, the Bulldogs shift their focus to the conference tournament as they are set to welcome in 14th ranked Minnesota State-Mankato for the quarterfinals this weekend.
UMD has met the Mavericks just twice in the postseason, with the last series being in 2022.
After taking that series two games to one, the Bulldogs started a 17-game unbeaten streak against Mankato, which still stands to this day.
“We’re excited to play against them because they come at you really hard. I feel like these last games that we’ve played have prepared us for that too. So a couple more practices here to get ready to just kind of sharpen our skill set and ready to go on Friday,” said head coach Laura Schuler.
“I would say they’re quite unpredicatable and they never give up. They’re hard workers. Like all WCHA games, it’s a battle out there,” added defender Ida Karlsson.
An earlier puck drop on Friday as game one is slated for 2 PM.
