‘Under Bodhi Rock’ wraps up filming in Minnesota
HIBBING, Minn. – Another indie film has just wrapped up production on the Iron Range in late February 2026.
“Under Bodhi Rock” is the latest film to call northern Minnesota its backdrop.
The low-budget feature film is about a Buddhist hospice nurse who is called to the Northland to assist a mining baron.
While the film’s budget was a modest $80,000, a solid crew and passion for the project will make it look bigger.
“It’s gonna be amazing. It’s gonna look beautiful, like I can’t even handle really, like on the monitor every day, I was like, oh my God, this is already, like, looks like we should just show it. It’s so beautiful before coloring or anything, the actors are fantastic. They’ve just brought the characters to life,” said Lindsey Audrey Bergan, Producer.
The production had Minnesotan crew members and a ton of community support – from offering shooting locations to simply lending a hand.
“We had people just looking out for us, even when we’re shooting at nighttime in the street. And maybe we weren’t as visible as we should have been, and there’s guys laying down traffic cones for us to be seen in the street. And just like things that you can’t even fathom, like how nice people are and how thoughtful it is,” said Brendan Mascherino, Director of Photography.
“I’m not going to say we took over, like the town, but everyone knew that we were there. Everyone was excited that we were there. And it was, I think, that you can only really get that in Minnesota or in like, small, smaller communities,” Writer, Director, and Producer Sam Jonas added.
While the filming is done, there is still much to do in terms of editing and finalizing.
They are hoping for local releases in Duluth and Hibbing.
