Nature Enthusiast Capturing Unique Views of Lake Superior

A Duluth man has been sharing stunng videos from beneath the water's surface

DULUTH, Minn. – We’ve all seen the beautiful images of Lake Superior through the lens of local photographers, but one Duluth man is sharing a different view.

For the past few years, Jim Richardson, also known as the Lake Superior Aquaman, has been capturing views from below the lake’s surface.

Richardson calls himself a nature enthusiast and has always loved recreational swimming. He says in the summer, he used to just swim in Lake Superior for fun. That’s when he realized what he was seeing under water needed to be shared with others.

Richardson uses a GoPro to capture amazing footage of Lake Superior year round.

“I’m very intrigued that it’s an unseen world,” said Richardson. “I looked a long time for what the scuba divers are seeing down there, but not a lot of them are posting their stuff online and making their stuff available. I don’t think the world really knows what we have here.”
