Cirrus to add 150 New Jobs
Cirrus Aircraft is expanding and bringing 150 new jobs to the Duluth area.
Cirrus is building a $12.7 million dollar painting and finishing facility, which will create new jobs.
The 68,000 square-foot facility will be built in the Duluth Airport Industrial Park, near the company’s existing building.
Burns & McDonnell, an international architecture, engineering, constructing and consulting firm, designed the new structure.
The expansion is being driven by growing customer demand for the company’s aircraft. The City of Duluth is contributing $8 million towards the project, while the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development is supporting the project with a $4 million loan from the Minnesota Investment Fund. The loan will be forgiven if the company meets its hiring and investment commitments.
The new jobs will pay up to $14 an hour plus benefits, and will bring the company’s workforce to about 825 employees in Duluth.
The new facility is expected to open in October of 2016.
