DNR deems Polymet mine adequate
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has determined that the environmental impact statement for PolyMet Mining is adequate.
The 3,500 page document, with 30,000 comments, has been the DNR’s largest environmental review. The decision marks the end of the state environmental impact statement process, but it does not mean that they may proceed with construction.
The DNR has not received permit applications from the company and the agency is not able to estimate when decisions will be made for permits.
The company hopes to receive the permit in the near future.
